NOTTING HILL to the Cotswolds is a popular escape route for weekenders (David and Sam Cameron among them). For Liz and Stephen Whiu and their four children, the picturesque Cotswolds countryside of gently rolling hills, honey-coloured houses and highquality independent shops and restaurants is the "English Provence".
Spyder Jackets MensHailing from New Zealand, with its incomparable and dramatic coastal landscape, the couple were instead drawn inland to the Cotswolds and made a snap decision to buy Spyder Jackets Mens an architect-designed house at The Lakes, a 650-acre "eco estate" of second homes near Lechlade.
"It takes us 90 minutes door-to-door, or two hours on Spyder Jackets Mens a bad day," says Liz, a travel industry consultant. Stephen works for an Asian investment bank in Knightsbridge.
"When we bought, we expected to use the property only once a month or so, but we're there most weekends throughout the year. Experiencing the seasons has been delightful and a real learning experience for the children."
Their 2,500 sq ft four-bedroom timber house is on the water's edge and has a double-height interior. "We find the whole weekending thing liberating as well as relaxing. This is not a place where you take the nanny. It's a safe environment, surrounded by nature and all about simple pleasures."
