In a passenger-friendly move, Ministry of Railways has decided to accept two more proofs of identity from passengers for travelling on e-tickets. These are identity cards with photographs issued by recognised schools/colleges to their students and passbooks of nationalised banks with photographs of the passengers travelling on an e-ticket.

These are additional proofs of identity accepted by Indian railways for e-tickets. So far, voter identity card, passport, PAN card, driving licence and photo identity card issued by central/state government were only accepted as proofs of identity. Now, there are seven such proofs of identity.

The new Pumps heels provision will come into effect from June 15. The ministry has asked all zonal railways to issue necessary instructions to all concerned, particularly ticket checking staff, so as to educate them about this modified provision and to avoid inconvenience to the passengers. The zonal railways, on the other hand, are ready and new provision will come rolling on Tuesday.

"It is a good and great step taken by railways for youngsters", said Indu Dubey, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Lucknow division, North Eastern Railway (NER).

There will be no concession including student concession admissible to the persons booking e-tickets except concession for senior citizens. For Reprint Rights: timescontent.com
