Rowena M. Corns

Rowena Marie Corns, 69, of Bowling Green, died Aug. 27, 2010, at her residence.

The Winchester native was born Oct. 20, 1940. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of State Street United Methodist Church. She was a Christian servant and a school teacher. Marie dedicated her life to her family and friends and her faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter HEAT PUMP O and a member of Grace Orr Circle at State Street United Methodist Church. Marie loved her flowers and rainbows and weekly prayer time with her Emmaus reunion group. She found her joy and happiness in life by helping others and in devotion to loved ones. Marie just celebrated her 50th anniversary of being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a member of Indian Hills Country Club and The Club at Olde Stone. She was a daughter of the late Charles G. Stephenson and Rowena Kash Stephenson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Stephenson.

A service of remembrance is at 10 carte 3ds a.m. Tuesday at State Street United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Henry Dale Corns; a son, A. Kevin Corns of Bowling Green; a daughter, Lesley Marie Corns Samardzia of Bowling Green; a sister, Charlotte Stephenson Ewing of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Marie Nicole Samardzia and Nicholas Henry Samardzia, both of Bowling Green.
