The store: Opened by Meg Fitzpatrick and Mitch Van Nurden last June in The Whitney condo building, Metro Home specializes in furniture and accessories scaled to suit downtown's many condominiums.
The merchandise: Metro Home's furniture oil painting tends to have narrower profiles to fit comfortably into condos, and many oil painting pieces have a dual purpose, such as the cocktail table with storage underneath and the revolving wardrobe with shelves on one side and a full-length mirror on the other.

When shopping for accessories for the store, Fitzpatrick -- a former magazine art director who began pursuing an interior oil painting design career 10 years ago -- tries to choose items that pop with color. The package deal:Metro Home offers packages for many rooms. The living-room package, for example, includes sofa, lounge seating, coffee and end tables, lamps, media console, area rug and throw pillows.

The services: The staff keeps a file of floor plans of local condos, allowing them to help customers make suitable furniture choices on a unit-by-unit basis. They'll also call condo associations to schedule deliveries.
