CHRIS CHRISTIE, GOVERNOR, NEW JERSEY: Well, it's trying to make sure that we get the reform agenda pushed through that we need on pensions and benefits. Our pension system in New Jersey is $46 billion underfunded, and even if the state made every dime of its contribution for the next 15 years, at the end we'd be $85 billion underfunded. Our health benefit plan is $67 billion underfunded, and so we need to get reforms through our composed group of really aggressive reforms last week, and it's going to be a real fight with the public sector unions to get these through, but we need to get it done. KEENE: When you look at the pressures that you're under, one of the strategies here is a delay of spending money, pushing things out colorful bag one year or two years. When is the all-clear? Are you trying to push out to 2011, or are you trying to push out to 2013? CHRISTIE: Well, you know, it's really hard to tell. I mean, what we're trying to do is deal - you know, we reduced spending last year, real spending year to year, by 9 percent. And what we need to do is to continue on that path to reduce spending until we see some uptick in our revenues, which we are not seeing. We're still not seeing any type of measurable upturn in our revenues in New Jersey. And so I think we have to assume worst-case scenario and that fiscal year '12 is going to be just as much of a challenge as fiscal year '11 has been. KEN PREWITT, BLOOMBERG NEWS: What's the most important pension reform you'd like colorful bag to make? CHRISTIE: I think raising retirement age to 65 is very important. I think also eliminating COLAs. The COLAs are an extraordinary cost driver in what we do in terms of our pension. We also need to increase the contribution employees are making to a uniform 8.5 percent.
