NOTTING HILL to the Cotswolds is a popular escape route for weekenders (David and Sam Cameron among them). For Liz and Stephen Whiu and their four children, the picturesque Cotswolds countryside of gently rolling hills, honey-coloured houses and highquality independent shops and restaurants is the "English Provence".

"It takes us 90 minutes door-to-door, or two hours on Spyder Jackets Mens a bad day," says Liz, a travel industry consultant. Stephen works for an Asian investment bank in Knightsbridge.
"When we bought, we expected to use the property only once a month or so, but we're there most weekends throughout the year. Experiencing the seasons has been delightful and a real learning experience for the children."
Their 2,500 sq ft four-bedroom timber house is on the water's edge and has a double-height interior. "We find the whole weekending thing liberating as well as relaxing. This is not a place where you take the nanny. It's a safe environment, surrounded by nature and all about simple pleasures."
